619 North Clay, Kirkwood - Part 2

Everyone knows families change over the years. But, this Kirkwood family knows something else as well -- an old house can change and adapt beautifully, right along with them. This second level renovation is part of a series of projects CORE10 has completed toward this end: creating the home this family needs to live well together.

The challenge? The upstairs was composed of little choppy rooms that were low on function. The solution was to remove all the walls and create a fresh layout that would make the most of the existing area. One large bathroom became two bathrooms, one for their daughter and one for their sons, plus an upstairs laundry. The two pre-teen boys have built-in homework desks and added storage, and their daughter has a new sun-lit bedroom--a perfect place to get away from all the boys. When the kids want to hang out together or with friends, they can pile on the couch in the common room, which adjoins all three bedrooms. Intelligent, inspired design is transforming this house into the home this family will want to keep coming back to year after year, after year.
