The Westin Hotel, Clayton
The Central Maryland Westin Hotel represented a new punctuation in the downtown Clayton skyline. The streamline moderne high-rise, complete with rooftop gardens, a grand second floor lobby and meeting rooms, a two story restaurant with outdoor dining, and a hotel spa and pool at the third floor promised a new brand of luxury for the city. Boldly anchoring the heart of the Central Business District, the Central Maryland Hotel was designed as a new architectural expression to the life and vitality of Clayton. Another victim of the economic heardships in 2009, the hotel was never realized, but the design lives on for another day.
